Patrick J. McGinnis is a venture capitalist and private equity investor who has invested in leading companies in the United States, Latin America, and Europe.

He is also the author of the international bestseller The 10% Entrepreneur, a guide to becoming an entrepreneur without quitting your day job, (Penguin Portfolio 2016). The book has been featured by The Financial Times, the BBC, MSNBC, CNN en Espańol, Entrepreneur, Fast Company, Forbes, Fortune, and many other media outlets worldwide.

Patrick is credited by Boston Magazine with coining the term “FOMO” or “fear of missing out,” a term made popular by Millennials and digital junkies that was added to the Oxford Dictionary in 2013.

Patrick graduated magna cum laude from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, where he served a one-year appointment as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar at the Universidad Torcuato di Tella in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.

He is an avid traveler, writer, and speaker, and has visited more 80 countries. He is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and French.
