As an Endeavor Mentor, I’m excited by the idea of helping local entrepreneurs build businesses that will lead to new jobs while learning about emerging companies.
My first company, Beyond Interactive, went through a downsizing event. It was challenging to face an era of expense cutting after a period of hyper growth. I felt responsible for many of the employees we had to cut in an effort to save the company. For the most part, people understood why we needed to downsize and in the end, we made it through those difficult times. I believe the honesty and the respect we showed to employees during this difficult time helped those who remained to feel positive and committed to the turnaround. In the end, the lessons I learned from those difficult times greatly outweighs what I learned during our hyper growth times.
I’m proud of the number of careers my companies helped to create. A number of individuals who joined as junior members of my team are now senior executives. I take great pride in offering opportunities and learning experiences for my employees to grow within my companies.
I was given a copy of the book Built to Last by Jim Collins. The book has many inspiring concepts and ideas that still hold true for me. I highly recommend it.
I am the proud father of three pugs.
