From Monday, July 30th, through Wednesday, August 1st, Endeavor hosted its 81st International Selection Panel (ISP) in Detroit. The ISP is the final step in our selection process. At this stage, high-growth entrepreneur candidates with the potential to dramatically scale their companies are selected as Endeavor Entrepreneurs. Our office sent three entrepreneurs to the 81st ISP, and—of the three—Robin McIntosh and Lisa McLaughlin, the dynamic co-founders of Workit Health became our newest Endeavor Entrepreneurs in Detroit. The panelists interviewed, deliberated, and selected entrepreneurs from 7 different countries over the course of 3 days.
Robin has proven experience in both design and entrepreneurship, in addition to founding multiple companies and having meaningful involvement in the health and consumer tech industries. Her time and knowledge learned from co-founding both SIREN and YogaBuddy have been instrumental in Workit Health’s early success.
Lisa possesses innate leadership skills, thanks in large part to her time directing teams at both digital health and ed-tech startups. Lisa also has seven years of experience in psychiatry, making her uniquely qualified to help lead Workit Health.
The Ann Arbor-based health-tech company is looking to reinvent how we look at substance abuse and addiction treatment. Workit Health seeks to curate effective, accessible, and affordable solutions to people struggling with addiction. Through both virtual and in-person mental health support programs, the team continues to tackle the nearly $35B addiction recovery market and put the focus back on accessibility for those who need it most.
Online healthcare services, especially addiction treatment services, are scarce. Traditionally, people struggling with addiction are limited to two options. They either take time off from life and work to check-in to expensive treatment centers or they do not get the help they need and continue to suffer. Through Workit Health’s virtual substance abuse treatment programs, failing to get help from addiction will soon be a thing of the past. They provide holistic, evidence-based care to their patients through trained clinicians, technology and their unwavering commitment to continuity of care. Additionally, their evidence-based program offers both online and offline treatment for all three addiction stages—prevention, treatment, and detox.
Endeavor is looking forward to supporting Lisa and Robin as they scale Workit Health and serve as role models for Michigan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Lisa and Robin’s mantra, “carry as you climb”, demonstrates the company’s focus on empowering one another as women, entrepreneurs, and innovators—guiding them as they build a new model of care for addiction treatment.
