Terrence J.L. Reeves

Terrence J.L. Reeves is a member of Taft Stettinius & Hollister’s nationally recognized Venture Capital Group. He represents a wide variety of clients, ranging from tech startups to Fortune 500 companies. Terrence’s current client portfolio includes high-growth companies in mobility, AI, health tech and digital currency, with a focus on under-represented entrepreneurs in Michigan and beyond.

Prior to joining Taft, Terrence served as a Senior Partner with Growth Strats, where he consulted clients on strategic partnerships, acquisitions, innovation and revenue modeling. Additionally, Terrence previously served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Michigan, where he led the district’s Financial Crimes Taskforce to record performance. As a multi-skilled attorney, Terrence has advised senior leaders of global brands on organic and acquired growth, developed strategies to help the City of Detroit to pursue inclusive economic development, closed billions of dollars in business transactions, and co-founded and served as CEO of angel backed tech startup, Networkingout.

Mr. Reeves has a record of community-focused leadership. Terrence currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Strategic Fund, which oversees state economic development with ongoing funding in excess of $1 billion per year. He also serves on the board of directors of the IrishAngels. In 2012, Terrence co-founded Run This Town, a Detroit-based and award winning community fitness organization, to combat obesity and promote healthy living in Detroit, Kalamazoo, Chicago and Ann Arbor.

Mr. Reeves has received numerous awards for his professional accomplishments, and commitment to leadership through service, including the Young Alumnus Award from Eastern Michigan University, Michigan Chronicle’s “40 Under 40,” Spirit of Detroit Award, and the Wolverine Bar Association’s Shining Star, Member of the Year and Pipeline awards.

Once a high school dropout, Terrence received his B.S. in political science, with a minor in business, from Eastern Michigan University and his law degree from Wayne State University Law School, where his studies focused on transactional law.  He also holds an MBA (magna cum laude) from the University of Notre Dame, and furthered his studies in Venture Capital at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Terrence is a frequent speaker on urban education, leadership, venture capital and entrepreneurship in the region.
